Compensation Board

Compensation panels are panels where capacitors and measuring instruments are located to correct the power factor of the enterprise. Inductive loads (transformers, ballasts, motors, etc.) also draw reactive power. Reactive power is produced where it is needed. Compensation helps electrical systems to operate in good condition. Compensation that meets the reactive power needs of loads and electrical facilities by specified methods is called reactive power compensation.

WHY IS COMPENSATION NECESSARY?

Electrical energy must be transported from the power plant to the smallest receiver with the least loss in distribution. Nowadays, with the development of technology, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, etc. are found in every home. Heating, ventilation and cooling devices such as these cause the need for electrical energy to increase day by day, and energy production to become more and more expensive, and indirectly, this situation makes it more necessary for the electrical energy carried in the network to be high quality, cheap and real working active energy.

WHAT HAPPENS IF COMPENSATION IS NOT MADE?

If reactive forces are not compensated,

* Causes power losses in the network,

* Reduces the capacity of the production and distribution system,

* In distribution lines, where the voltage drop limits the power carried, it causes the energy carrying capacity to decrease.

IS COMPENSATION REQUIRED?

Compensating reactive energy is indispensable for the country's economy as it increases the grid carrying capacity and prevents waste of energy, and the latest decision taken by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority as a board decision has been made mandatory as Decision No: 284/2 Decision Date: 8/1/2004. . (This board decision entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated 15/01/2004 and numbered 25347.)
